Based on the results of the SURMOUNT trial, Tirzepatide will likely be the most effective obesity medication. The published SURMOUNT trial established the efficacy of Tirzepatide. In this phase 3, controlled study, 2,539 people were randomized to receive either Tirzepatide (at 5, 10 or 15 mg) or a placebo. After 72 weeks of treatment, the following results were observed:
- With the placebo, average weight loss was 3.1%
- With 5 mg Tirzepatide, average weight loss was 15%
- With 10 mg Tirzepatide, average weight loss increased to 19%
- At 15 mg, average weight loss was 20.9% (Semaglutide, the previous weight loss leader, has an average weight loss of 15%)

Lyophilized powder is a freeze-dried powder. The shelf life of peptide solutions (commonly cold shipped) is far less than that of lyophilized peptides, and peptides stored in solution are also vulnerable to bacterial degradation.
When storing lyophilized peptides for months or even years, freezing is optimal in order to preserve the peptide’s stability. After opening or reconstituting a peptide with Bacteriostatic Water, peptide solutions are generally stable for up to 45 days when refrigerated at 4C (39F).
